Before qualifying as a lawyer, Paul spent 2 years managing the negotiation and introduction of a national equal pay system in a London NHS Trust. He subsequently spent three years working with a leading trade union law firm, before moving to a large commercial practice where he advised a range of clients including banks, pharmaceutical companies, NHS bodies and policing organisations. Paul is an experienced tribunal advocate, with a particular interest in sensitive / contentious cases concerning aspects of discrimination.
Types of work
Paul acts for a wide range clients including: commercial and public organisations, charities and individual claimants. He provides advice and representation in relation to all aspects of the employment relationship, including:-
• Issues relating to the sale, acquisition or transfer of businesses/ public bodies.
• The formation and termination of employment contracts.
• Managing difficult employee relationships.
• Business restructuring, reorganisation and redundancy.
• All forms of discrimination.
• Drafting and negotiating compromise agreements.

• Representing a policing organisation facing claims of pregnancy-related discrimination and constructive dismissal.
• Acting for a pharmaceuticals company facing a six figure claim concerning allegations of whistleblowing.
• Successfully negotiating the settlement of a sensitive race discrimination claim on behalf of a major bank.
• Acting on behalf of teaching hospital in a claim involving allegations of sex and age discrimination brought by a former Director of HR.
• Providing advice and support in relation to large-scale redundancies.
