Companies Act 2006 changes from 1st October 2009

From 1st October 2009, there will be a number of company law changes affecting charitable companies, trading subsidiaries owned by charities and community interest companies. All Companies House forms will be changing, there will be new and different filing requirements and there will be important changes to what is regarded as a company’s constitution.

We attach a link to a summary of key changes (Summary of Companies Act 2006 changes from 1st October 2009) but please note BIS and Companies House have yet to issue final guidance so this is based on what we know so far and is subject to change. We will prepare an updated version when all the guidance and forms have been finalised.

We are also running two sessions aimed at bringing existing client companies up to speed with how the changes will affect them :

1. At our offices on Thursday 10th September from 4.30-6.30pm. To register for this please book online at Companies Act 2006 Seminar, or email seminars@bwbllp.com quoting reference "Companies Act 2006"

2. At our Annual Charity Tea Party on Tuesday 22 September from 2.15pm onwards – invitations to this will be sent out shortly.  The update at our Annual Charity Tea Party will only be a headline update.

If in the meantime you have any specific questions, please speak to your usual contact at BWB.
